BERLIN, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The mobile phone network of Germany's largest telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom was hit by disruptions across the country, the company confirmed early on Tuesday.

"Some of our customers are experiencing problems setting up data and voice connections. The landline network is not affected," the company said via Twitter.

In the early hours of Tuesday local time, customers of Deutsche Telekom had already reported problems with mobile phone reception and mobile internet via online portals as well as Twitter.

Based on customer complaints, the metropolitan areas of Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich had been particularly affected.

A spokesperson for the company later said "normal phone calls and data traffic can be used again." However, the cause of the disruption still remained unclear and was being analyzed, the German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

Recent disturbances in the network of Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Mobile US were not connected to the disruptions in Germany. The Telekom spokesperson stressed that this was a pure coincidence. Enditem
