5.4-magnitude quake hits south of Kermadec Islands -- USGS

BEIJING, June 19 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 jolted south of the Kermadec Islands at 07:11 a.m. local time on Friday (1911 GMT Thursday), the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 33.4038 degrees south latitude and 178.0431 degrees west longitude.
