RIYADH, June 22 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen announced on Monday that the Houthi militias targeted the kingdom with bomb-laden drones.

Turki Al Maliki, the coalition's spokesman, said the militias launched the drones on Monday evening toward civilians and civilian facilities in the kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The coalition intercepted a number of them with the rest under constant monitoring, he noted.

The attacks took place after the coalition welcomed the decision of the Yemeni government and Southern Transitional Council to hold a meeting in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, that aims to advance the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

The agreement was signed in November last year between the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council, mainly including the unification of all military forces under the Ministries of Interior and Defense, and the formation of an efficient government made up equally between the north and south of Yemen.
