The political solution should be achieved by the Libyans themselves, not outsiders, Lavrov said.

MOSCOW, June 23 (Xinhua) -- There is no military solution to the conflict in Libya, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday.

"The absence of a military solution must be recognized by everyone. It is necessary to sit down at the negotiating table and seek universally acceptable agreements," Lavrov said at a press conference.

He said he saw no other way out of the conflict than an immediate ceasefire and a political solution based on negotiations in accordance with the agreements reached at the Berlin conference on Libya in January.

The political solution should be achieved by the Libyans themselves, not outsiders, Lavrov said, adding that external forces should do everything to help create the conditions for inclusive intra-Libyan dialogue.
