JERUSALEM, June 23 (Xinhua) -- An Israeli company has developed an active coating spray for disinfecting surfaces from COVID-19, the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) said on Tuesday

The disinfection technology against viruses and bacteria, based on dental coating protection spray, can last for about a month, the IIA said.

The technology was developed by Nobio, a medical bio-protection company founded in 2015 and based in central Israel.

The company found that the dental technology it developed is also effective against viruses such as coronavirus, thus developing the spray for surface disinfection.

Thus, Nobio applied its technology to developing personal protective wear, such as disinfected medical face masks, gloves and gowns, as well as surface coatings.

The active antiviral coating is suitable for disinfecting working surfaces, countertops, keyboards, switches, doors, handles and beds.

Many tourism, aviation and car companies are already interested in the product.

"The goal is to make the public areas safer and normal again, so people will not have to disinfect hands repeatedly, open doors with handkerchiefs or avoid hand contact with the seat in a plane or taxi," the IIA said. Enditem
