BEIJING, June 24 (Xinhua) -- The Standing Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) concluded its 12th meeting on Wednesday.

Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the closing meeting and delivered a speech.

Speaking highly of the suggestions on winning the battle against poverty, the topic of the meeting, Wang asked political advisors to summarize the CPPCC's long-term practice in poverty relief and come up with institutionalized measures, in order to provide a helpful reference for the CPPCC to improve its work in the new era.

He stressed efforts to speed up the establishment of major systems and mechanisms of the CPPCC, such as the rules of its consultation process, and explore new approaches for political advisors to unite people from different sectors.

Wang also called on standing committee members of the CPPCC National Committee from Hong Kong to stay connected with the public to create strong positive energy for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to safeguard national security, as well as for the steady and sustained implementation of the "one country, two systems" principle.
