SARAJEVO, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) recorded 120 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the country's Ministry of Civil Affairs said Thursday.

This is the highest number of new cases recorded in one day since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in mid-March. The second-highest number was recorded on April 29, with 101 new cases in one day.

To date, BiH has tested 87,418 people, with 3,796 confirmed cases and 175 deaths.

Health authorities of the two BiH entities, the Federation of BiH (FBiH) and the Republika Srpska (RS), have described the new cases as "the local transmission" but mentioned that some "imported cases" have also been recorded.

New cases have been reported in 5 of 10 cantons of in FBiH. Most of the new cases in RS have been reported in Banja Luka.

Croatia, the neighboring country and one of the most popular tourist destinations to the BiH citizens, has introduced a 14-day mandatory quarantine for all visitors from BiH. This restrictive measure was in force from Wednesday midnight.

BiH authorities have recently said they would not consider resuming some of the recently suspended restrictive measures due to the increase in new cases. However, after the Croatian authorities introduced the mandatory quarantine, some politicians have requested the government to introduce reciprocal treatment. Enditem
