Senegal's COVID-19 deaths surpass 100

DAKAR, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Senegal's COVID-19 deaths surpassed 100 since the outbreak of the pandemic, the country's health ministry announced on Saturday.

In the past 24 hours, Senegal registered four additional deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the death toll up to 102, Senegalese health minister Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr said during the daily briefing.

Apart from the four deaths, the country, after testing 1,009 samples, also reported 105 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 84 follow-up contact cases and 21 community transmission ones, minister Sarr said, adding that the total number of confirmed cases now reached 6,459 in Senegal.

The number of patients discharged from various hospitals and treatment centers rose by 62, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,255.
