JAKARTA, June 29 (Xinhua) -- The COVID-19 cases in Indonesia rose by 1,082 within one day to 55,092, with the death toll adding by 51 to 2,805, Achmad Yurianto, a Health Ministry official, said at a press conference on Monday.

According to him, 864 more people had been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 23,800.

Within the past 24 hours, five provinces -- Central Kalimantan, Jakarta, Central Java, East Java and South Sulawesi -- recorded high numbers of cases, Yurianto said.

However, no more positive cases were found in 13 provinces, namely Aceh, Jambi, West Sumatra, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, Lampung, Yogyakarta, West Kalimantan, East Nusa Tenggara, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Gorontalo and North Maluku.

Yurianto called on the public to obey the implemented health protocols in a bid to avoid more COVID-19 infections.
