Tokyo stock open higher on Wall Street's overnight recovery

TOKYO, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday on Wall Street's recovery overnight as investors bet on new stimulus measures from the government and upbeat housing data suggesting the market may be seeing a turnaround.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 376.00 points, or 1.71 percent, from Monday to 22,371.04.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 20.43 points, or 1.32 percent, at 1,569.65.

Iron and steel, marine transportation, and nonferrous metal issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
