BEIJING, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Sichuan Blue Whale point guard Yuan Tangwen was among the Most Improved Five of the first week since the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league restarted on June 20.

As many overseas players are unable to return due to current COVID-19 containment measures, domestic players are given more playing time after the league's resumption, and part of them have grasped the opportunity to take center stage and greatly improve their stats.

Yuan, the third draft pick of 2019, averaged 6.0 points, 11.8 assists and 2.5 steals over the last four matches. His 16 assists against Tianjin Pioneers were the most by an active domestic player since Zeng Lingxu in the 2012/13 season. The 20-year-old point guard had another 14-assist performance against Shandong Heroes.

Zeng, 33, was also named in the list. He posted an average of 12.2 points and 7.8 assists after the league resumed, including a season-high 13 assists against Bayi Rockets.

"I'm blessed to be here at the age of 33. The only thing I can do is to continue my effort," Zeng wrote on China's Twitter-like Weibo.

Zhejiang Golden Bulls saw both Zhang Dayu and Lu Wenbo as members of the honor. Zhang finished a well-balanced stat of 27 points, 13 boards, three assists and three blocks when taking on Shanghai Sharks, while Lu registered a career-high 22 points along with seven rebounds against Bayi.

The remainder of the list belonged to Dai Huaibo from Jilin Northeast Tigers. Dai, who had averaged 7.8 points and 0.6 assists in the previous 30 rounds, improved the stats to 19.7 points and 5.0 assists across the last four matches. He shot 7 of 9 beyond the arc against Fujian Sturgeons. Enditem
