MEXICO CITY, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Mexico international winger Jurgen Damm has joined Atlanta United after parting ways with Tigres UANL, the U.S. Major League Soccer (MLS) club said on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old arrives as a free agent after making more than 200 appearances for Tigres over five seasons.

"It's exciting to add a player with Jurgen's pedigree and winning mentality and we're looking forward to welcoming him to the club," Atlanta United technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a statement on the club's official website.

"He's excelled in Liga MX, as well as on the international level with the Mexican national team and we believe he can make an immediate impact in MLS. Jurgen is versatile to play on either wing, and with his pace and ability to beat defenders on on one to deliver a cross, he gives us another valuable weapon in our attack."

Damm, who has been capped 12 times for Mexico, will only be eligible to play for Atlanta after the completion of the MLS Is Back Tournament in August.

He took one of the club's available spots for foreign players after the departure of Brazilian midfielder Luiz Fernando. Enditem
