DAMASCUS, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Protests against the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) erupted on Thursday for the third straight day in Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah, state news agency SANA reported.

The protests took place in the countryside of Qamishli city in Hasakah, said SANA, adding that people are protesting against the practices of the SDF and calling for the withdrawal of the SDF from their areas.

Meanwhile, SANA said that the SDF prevented the state servants from entering Syrian government institutions in Hasakah on Thursday.

It's worth noting that the SDF militia has stormed all government-owned institutions in the southern part of Hasakah earlier this week.

Hasakah is largely controlled by the SDF while the Syrian government controls some areas in Qamishli city, including the civilian airport.

The Syrian state media has branded the Kurdish-led SDF as a separatist force that is doing the bidding of the U.S. forces.
