BEIRUT, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's number of COVID-19 infections increased on Thursday by eight to 1,796 while the death toll increased by one to 35, the National News Agency reported.

Lebanon has reopened its airport on July 1 in hope to attract tourists and Lebanese expats to the country amid severe shortage in U.S. currency and deterioration in various sectors in the country.

Lebanon's Health Ministry continues to conduct PCR tests for citizens and arrivals in an attempt to restrict the spread of the virus.

Lebanon has been fighting against COVID-19 since Feb. 21.

The country has received several donations from different countries for the fight against COVID-19.

The latest foreign support received by Lebanon for the fight against the pandemic was from China last month which offered 17,500 masks, 1,500 protective gears, 1,320 goggles and 1,000 shoes covers to Lebanese public hospitals.
