Malaysia reports single-digit new COVID-19 cases 5 days in a row

KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported five new COVID-19 infections on Friday, the Health Ministry said, pushing the national total to 8,648 cases.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press briefing that of the new cases, three are imported and two are local transmissions.

It's the fifth consecutive day that Malaysia reported single digit case increase.

Another nine cases were released from hospitals, bringing the total cured and discharged to 8,446 or 97.7 percent of all cases.

Among the remaining 81 active cases, two are being held in intensive care and both of them are in need of assisted breathing.

No new deaths were reported, leaving the total deaths at 121. Enditem
