Bulgaria reports record high of 182 COVID-19 cases

SOFIA, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The Bulgarian Health Ministry on Saturday reported a record high of 182 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking its nationwide tally to 5,497.

As many as 69 of the new COVID-19 cases were registered in the country's capital Sofia, bringing the total in the city to 1,718, the data showed.

Meanwhile, another 90 people have recovered from the disease in Bulgaria, raising the total number of recoveries to 2,892, the ministry said.

The death toll has risen to 239 as seven more patients have died in the past 24 hours, the ministry also said.

It added that 450 patients are currently hospitalized, with 29 in intensive care units, while the number of infected medical workers has reached 445.
