BANGKOK, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Ministry of Transport reported on Sunday that it has instructed all public and private transport services to disinfect the vehicles regularly to stem the spread of COVID-19 while accommodating vacationers during a four-day Buddhist public holiday from July 4 to 7.

The ministry's state bus operator The Transport Co. Ltd also said all bus terminals nationwide will be cleaned regularly, including toilets and benches.

The bus operator on its online ticketing websites instructed travelers to comply with disease control measures by wearing face masks at bus terminals and aboard buses and observing social distancing, at least one meter away from each other.

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) added additional passenger coaches to trains to facilitate travel during the holiday season.

"SRT will be operating 224 trains per day during the long holiday, said SRT governor Nirut Maneepan.

Nirut said that SRT will include screening passengers, providing alcohol-based gel and arranging seats to maintain social distancing.

"The SRT will sell only 50 percent of all seats in each train and refrain from selling standing tickets and food in the train, so passengers have to bring their own food for journeys longer than three hours," he said. Enditem
