LONDON, July 6 (Xinhua) -- The Scottish Premier Football League (SPFL) has released the fixtures for the 2020/21 Scottish Premier League (SPL). The Scottish top flight is scheduled to kick off on August 1, subject to government approval.

As disputes regarding the current season's relegation remain ongoing, the release of fixtures is not without contention. Last week, Hearts, the club demoted to the second-tier Scottish Championship, voiced their dissatisfaction by bringing a legal challenge against the SPFL. According to a BBC report, the court has referred the case to arbitration to the Scottish Football Association, where the final ruling will be made with no more appeals.

Partick Thistle, who were also seeking a reversal of their relegation from the Scottish Championship, joined action with Hearts.

"We were successful in the motion to get access to a number of documents that will be key to support our case in arbitration. We promised our supporters that we would fight for them, and we shall continue to do so," a joint club statement read on July 3.

Hearts were four points adrift at the bottom of the SPL when the season was ended amid the COVID-19 pandemic with eight games still to play, and final positions were decided on a points-per-game average. Enditem
