SKOPJE, July 8 (Xinhua) -- The Commission for Infectious Diseases in North Macedonia has decided to submit a proposal to the government that all people entering the country from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro must submit polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests not older than 72 hours, Health Minister Venko Filipce announced here on Wednesday.

Filipce said via Facebook that the Commission for Infectious Diseases made the decision during a meeting held on Wednesday morning.

The commission submitted a recommendation to the government that, starting from Thursday, all citizens entering North Macedonia from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro be obliged to submit PCR tests not older than 72 hours.

Local media reported that this decision was also confirmed by Prime Minister Oliver Spasovski, who told reporters that the government will discuss the recommendation and make a decision based on it.

The Commission for Infectious Diseases took this decision after reviewing the current epidemiological situation in these countries and the information given by their healthcare authorities.

On Wednesday, the health ministry reported 163 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in North Macedonia to 7,406, with 3,554 recoveries and 359 fatalities. Enditem
