ULAN BATOR, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian government on Friday decided to extend the country's heightened state of readiness by 15 days until the end of July amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The extension is part of efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the government's press office said in a statement.

The Asian country has confirmed 227 COVID-19 cases so far, with no local transmissions or deaths.

Over 80 percent of the country's confirmed cases were imported from Russia, according to the government.

Mongolia entered its heightened state of readiness on Feb. 12, with measures including the suspension of international passenger flights. Enditem
