Kyrgyzstan registers 552 new COVID-19 cases

BISHKEK, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's COVID-19 cases increased by 552 on Saturday, while the total cases climbed to 9,910.

Ainura Akmatova, head of the public health care department of the country's health ministry, said that of the total confirmed cases 4,785 are men, and 5,115 are women.

She added that among the newly infected 79 are medical workers, bringing the total number of infected medical workers to 1,529, including 546 recoveries.

A total of 102 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries to 3,236 since the outbreak, Akmatova said, noting that so far 631 patients are being treated in hospitals, with 25 in intensive care units.

In addition, 5,918 asymptomatic patients are in home quarantine, she noted.

Meanwhile, three patients have died in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 125.

Akmatova said that health workers have conducted 2,767 tests in the past 24 hours.

The health ministry's representative said that Kyrgyzstan continues to purchase all the necessary devices for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with novel coronavirus infection.

Over the past week, the country purchased 1,064 devices for the artificial ventilation of lungs and for oxygen therapy, 2,191 pulse oximeters and 550 mobile oxygen concentrators, according to the health ministry. Enditem
