Malaysia reports 8 new COVID-19 cases, one additional death

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia has reported another eight new COVID-19 infections, the Health Ministry said on Saturday, bringing the national total to 8,704.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement that four of the new infections are imported and the other four are local transmissions.

One new death was also reported, the first since mid-June, bringing the total death toll to 122.

Another four cases had been released, bringing the total cured and discharged to 8,515 or 97.8 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 67 active cases, three are being held in intensive care and two of those are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
