Laos tests over 20,000 people for COVID-19 since January

VIENTIANE, July 13 (Xinhua) -- A total of 20,454 people in Laos have received COVID-19 tests since January, according to the Lao National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Laos has conducted 20,454 tests for COVID-19 since January, with 19 of them positive and all of them have been discharged from hospitals, Deputy Director General of the Department of Communicable Disease Control under the Ministry of Health Latsamy Vongkhamsao told a press conference here on Monday.

On Sunday, a total of 1,597 people entered Laos through international border checkpoints. The temperature of each person entering Laos was checked and no one showed signs of fever.

The National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced that it has been monitoring 3,679 people at 70 accommodation centers across the country.

The Lao government has warned people countrywide and relevant authorities not to neglect containment and preventive measures.

Laos announced its first two confirmed COVID-19 cases on March 24, and the last patient was discharged on June 9. Enditem
