NUR-SULTAN, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan on Monday mourned citizens who died of COVID-19 on a day of national mourning.

At 12 p.m. local time (0600 GMT), the country observed a minute of silence to pay tribute to COVID-19 victims. Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev declared July 13 as a day of national mourning in a televised speech last week. He said that behind official statistics are the tragedies of hundreds of families.
