ULAN BATOR, July 13 (Xinhua) -- A total of 19 people were killed and 17 others injured in road accidents in Mongolia in four days, the country's traffic police department said Monday.

"A total of 19 people, including two children lost their lives in 11 separate traffic accidents in the country from Thursday to Sunday," the department said, adding that 18 of the victims were killed in traffic accidents that had happened on rural roads.

Road accidents in the country happen more frequently during summer and vacation seasons due to the dramatically increasing number of people who travel to the countryside, said the department, urging drivers to comply with traffic rules to protect themselves and their loved ones.

In 2019, a total of 819 road traffic accidents involving children were recorded across Mongolia, killing 49 children and injuring 770 others, according to the police department. Enditem
