RAMALLAH, July 13 (Xinhua) -- Two senior UN officials on Monday urged for increasing international donations to meet the humanitarian needs in Palestine.

Jamie McGoldrick, UN humanitarian coordinator for the occupied Palestinian territory, and Stephen Kearney, director of World Food Programme (WFP) office in Palestine, made the appeal in a meeting with Palestinian Minister of Social Affairs Ahmed Majdalani.

"We discussed with McGoldrick and Kearney how to support the steadfastness of the Palestinians, develop social services, and increase the humanitarian aid," Majdalani office said in an emailed press statement on Monday.

The statement said that Majdalani discussed with the two senior UN officials the plans of his ministry to combat coronavirus in the West Bank and how to face the Israeli plan of annexing parts of the West Bank.

The statement said that McGoldrick expressed readiness for cooperation with the ministry of social affairs to implement its plans and also his full understanding of the hard-living situation in the Palestinian territories.

It also said that Kearney stressed the necessity of exerting more efforts for fundraising and expressed his understanding to increase the international aid to meet the humanitarian needs in the Palestinian territories. Enditem
