LUXEMBOURG, July 14 (Xinhua) -- The 2020 European Beach Volleyball Championship (EuroBeachVolley) will take place from September 16 to 20 in Jurmala, Latvia, while its U22 edition is going to be held in Izmir, Turkey from September 23 to 27, according to the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV).

EuroBeachVolley, which is the continent's top beach volleyball event, will feature 32 teams per gender, including the defending champions and local favorites Graudina and Kravcenoka in women's side and Norway's Anders Mol and Christian Sorum in men's side.

Competitions will be staged on Majori beach in Jurmala, where the first major European beach volleyball competition, a CEV Satellite event, was held in 2014.

The CEV also revealed that Izmir would replace Vlissingen, the Netherlands, to stage the EuroBeachVolley U22 event because the Dutch Volleyball Federation has withdrawn its hosting rights in light of local restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of the COVID-19.

Strict health measures will be implemented to adhere to the most recent guidelines provided by international and national health authorities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants of these events, the CEV and local organizers promised. Enditem
