TEHRAN, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Two relief workers were killed on Thursday in an attack on a coronavirus aid convoy in Iran's western province of Kurdistan, Tasnim news agency reported.

During the attack, carried out in Bolbar village in the district of Uraman of Sarvabad County on early hours, another person was injured.

"The coronavirus aid convoy came under attack by the terrorists affiliated with the global arrogance," a statement by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) was cited as saying.

The IRGC vowed to punish those behind the attack.

According to the report, "anti-revolutionary terrorists" attacked a border post of the Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada Base of the IRGC Ground Force in the western province of Kurdistan in July 2018, killing 11 forces of the base.

Western Iran has been the scene of deadly clashes between the Iranian security forces and the Kurdish rebels over the past years. Enditem
