ISTANBUL, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's Fatih deepwater drillship started its first mission on Monday in the Black Sea, Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmez announced.
"Fatih began its drilling activities at the Tuna-1 location in the Black Sea," Donmez tweeted.
"We will explore every square meter of our seas for Turkey's energy independence," he said.
The oil and gas drilling vessel had sailed off to the Black Sea from Istanbul at the end of May after its towers were demounted for safe passage under the three bridges of the Bosphorus Strait.
Its 103-meter-long towers were reassembled at a harbor in Turkey's Black Sea province of Trabzon before the vessel started its mission. Enditem
