QINGDAO, China, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese national team center Wang Zhelin scored 36 points and 15 rebounds on Friday, helping the Fujian Sturgeons beat the Shanghai Sharks 127-120 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Friday.

Fujian built a 35-29 lead in the first quarter, as Wang, He Zhongda and Ty Lawson combined 25 points.

With Ray McCallum and Zhang Zhaoxu, each contributing eight points in the second quarter, Shanghai rallied back and tied the game 61-61 by the half-time whistle.

Thanks to the 35 points from Wang and Chen Linjian together in the second half, Fujian grabbed the lead again and maintained it until the end, making McCallum's 38 points in vain.

Lawson took 30 points for Fujian, and Chen had 28 points. He finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Zhang got 21 points and 15 rebounds for Shanghai, Ju Mingxin and Yan Peng collected 15 points apiece, and Luo Hanchen notched 16 points.

"It was a very difficult game for us while facing a very good team of Fujian, everybody on the court fought hard," said Manos Manouselis, coach of Shanghai.

"We controlled the game for the most part, and the victory will boost our morale in the playoffs," said Fujian coach Aleksandar Kesar. Enditem
