COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh reach 226,225 with 2,772 new cases

DHAKA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh reached 226,225 on Monday as 2,772 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.

Senior Health Ministry official Nasima Sultana said in a media briefing that 37 deaths were also reported in the last 24 hours across the country.

"The number of confirmed infections in the country totaled 226,225 while fatalities stood at 2,965," she said.

According to the official, 12,859 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in labs across the country.

She said the total number of recovered patients in the country now stands at 125,683 including 1,801 on Monday.

According to the official, the COVID-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.31 percent and the current recovery rate is 55.56 percent. Enditem
