RIGA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Law enforcement officers in Latvia have seized a significant amount of wartime weaponry and ammunition, the state police said on Monday.
Police obtained information about persons allegedly involved in an illegal trade in firearms, their parts, ammunition and explosives in the capital city Riga, as well as several regions of Latvia.
The investigation established that a group of five men were involved in illegal possession and trade in weapons.
Four criminal probes were launched against the group which had been making, repairing, storing and selling the weapons, their parts and ammunition in Latvia.
Raids on several apartments and private houses resulted in seizing three pistols, two revolvers, 15 rifles, 32 essential parts of firearms, 2,094 pieces of ammunition, a hand grenade, 42 explosive devices and 508 parts of explosive devices, as well as four kilograms of explosives. Enditem
