TEHRAN, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran will continue its peaceful nuclear program in compliance with the International Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA) regulations, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was quoted as saying by semi-official Fars news agency on Monday.

"Iran is a member of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and its nuclear program are carried out in coordination with IAEA regulations," said Araghchi.

"As an accountable country, Iran has removed all ambiguities and misinformation regarding its nuclear program," he said.

He noted that "whenever our interests regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) are served, we will be ready to return to all our JCPOA commitments."

Following the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA in May 2018, Iran has been steadily dropping its commitments under the accord. It announced the final step to abandon its commitments in January.

Iranian officials have said Iran is ready to re-embrace its commitments under the 2015 nuclear deal if the Europeans adhere to their vows to help Iran gain economic benefits under the pact. Enditem
