TEHRAN, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has put into trial large amounts of military equipment in the ongoing drills in southern Iran.

On Wednesday, the second day of the war game codenamed the Great Prophet 14, the IRGC launched ballistic missiles from unspecified underground location, showed the footage aired by state TV from the missiles launch.

Tasnim news agency also reported that the IRGC's Aerospace Force successfully fired ballistic missiles hidden in camouflage deep under the ground.

Besides, the IRGC forces launched a missile combat operation by firing Hormuz and Fateh ground-to-ground missiles. In the war game, various types of sea-to-sea and coast-to-sea missiles were also fired.

The IRGC also unveiled a new ballistic missile launcher. The Iranian military forces used to employ box launchers only in air defense systems, but a ballistic missile was fired with this type of launcher in the war game for the first time on Wednesday.

According to the report, the IRGC's Sukhoi-22 fighter jets dropped smart winged bombs to destroy targets on the Farur island "with great accuracy as the targets have been designed on a much smaller scale."

The IRGC troops also exercised offensive mine-laying operations and tactics to cut off the naval connections of the hypothetical enemy.

On Tuesday, the IRGC fired a missile at a replica U.S. aircraft carrier in the Strait of Hormuz during a war game.

Footage from the state TV showed a missile was fired from a helicopter at the mock aircraft carrier and hit its side.

Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, said on Wednesday that his forces have successfully exercised an operation to incapacitate the U.S. Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system in the course of the war game in southern Iran, Tasnim reported.

The IRGC forces established a missile system mirroring the capabilities of THAAD and targeted the anti-ballistic defense system with radar-evading missiles, according to Hajizadeh.

The war game has been conducted in the southern province of Hormozgan, western parts of the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf, according to an IRGC statement.

In the drills, the IRGC's Navy and Aerospace Forces are carrying out joint operations involving vessels, drones, missile and radar units. Enditem
