JAKARTA, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Authorities in the Indonesian province of Banten have arrested nine people for allegedly smuggling around 160 kilograms of marijuana originating from Aceh, police said on Thursday.
The nine suspects were arrested in three separate locations, namely Banten, Jakarta and West Java after the authorities received information about their actions, the Banten Provincial Police's chief Fiandar was quoted by state news agency Antara as saying.
All the suspects were allegedly smuggling marijuana from Aceh to Jakarta and Bogor in West Java, he added.
Indonesia, which has one of the strictest drug laws in the world, currently prohibits the possession and use of marijuana.
The suspects shall be charged in accordance with the law. Enditem
