DALIAN, China, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Fabio Cannavaro's Guangzhou Evergrande thrashed Guangzhou R&F 5-0 here on Thursday to notch up two wins from as many games in the current Chinese Super League (CSL) season.
Evergrande, who had defeated Shanghai Shenhua 2-0 in the season opener last Saturday, went ahead only eight minutes into play when Paulinho latched onto a deft pass from Yang Liyu and fired it past R&F goalkeeper Han Jiaqi.
Wei Shihao, who scored a brace in Evergrande's win over Shenhua, made it 2-0 as he drove in a cross from the right in the 40th minute.
Evergrande scored their third goal eight minutes after the break. Midfielder Gao Zhunyi dribbled through the left flank before releasing a fierce angled shot.
Cannavaro's team enlarged their lead to 4-0 in the 63rd minute when the referee awarded them a penalty after consulting the VAR. Talisca converted it from the spot. Brazilian-born Ai Kesen then put the icing on the cake deep into injury time with a powerful free kick.
R&F's best chance came in the 56th minute when Eran Zahavi's long-range shot hit the crossbar.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who took over R&F in January, has yet to get his side a win. His team lost to Shenzhen FC 3-0 in their first match of the season. Enditem
