SANTIAGO, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Chilean Ministry of Health reported on Satuday that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country had risen to 357,658, with 9,533 deaths.
The ministry reported that 1,979 cases and 76 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours. It was also mentioned that there are currently 551 ventilators available to the national health network.
Additionally, 24,398 COVID-19 tests were administered in the last 24 hours, as a total of 1,648,390 tests administered since the disease was first detected in the country in March.
The government announced that it has already begun to plan for a gradual end to the quarantine in various parts of the country in order to reopen the economy, as there has been a drop in new cases and test positivity rate. Enditem
