TIRANA, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Teuta Football Club has won the Albanian Cup after defeating Tirana 2-0 on Sunday at the "Air Albania" stadium in the capital city of Tirana.

The team, based in the port-city of Durres, western Albania and led by Albanian coach Edi Martini, won their first Albanian Cup trophy in 15 years.

The match, which kicked off at 8 p.m. local time, was held without the presence of football fans due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Albanian Football Federation (AFF) asked for permission to allow a small group of fans into the venue, but authorities rejected the request due to the increase in coronavirus cases.

The first goal of the match came in the second minute from defender Rustem Hoxha. Teuta entered the game seemingly more motivated and had more opportunities during the match.

The white and blue team missed two chances to score with English forward Michael Ngoo and the Argentinean forward Agustin Torassa both wasteful in front of goal. Teuta's forward Lorenco Vila sealed the result with a second goal in the 78th minute.

This is the fourth cup in Teuta's history, as it had previously won this title in 1995, 2000 and 2005.

Teuta managed to get back the title in a special year, as 2020 also marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the team. Enditem
