VIENTIANE, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Lao Ministry of Health reported 69 more cases of dengue fever on Tuesday, bringing the total number of infections to 4,325.
Deputy director general of the Department of Communicable Diseases Control under Lao Ministry of Health, Sisavath Soutthaniraxay, told a press conference in Lao capital Vientiane on Tuesday that 4,325 people has been diagnosed with dengue fever and nine deaths were recorded since January.
The highest number of dengue patients were reported in the Lao capital Vientiane with 979, while 522 cases were recorded in Bolikhamxay province, and 449 in Vientiane province.
The nine deaths included four in Lao capital Vientiane, two in Bolikhamxay province, and one each in Khammuan, Xayaboury and Xieng Khuang provinces.
Lao health authorities urged people to clear potential mosquito breeding sites around homes and workplaces to help control the spread of dengue fever. Enditem
