Early voting begins in Belarus for presidential elections

MINSK, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Early voting for the presidential election began in Belarus on Tuesday.

Early voting, which runs until August 8, was organized for those unable to vote on election day slated for August 9.

There are 5,767 polling stations, including 44 abroad, the Belarus Central Election Commission said.

Co-chairman of the national research and education association Govori Pravdu (Tell the Truth) Andrei Dmitriyev, individual entrepreneur Anna Kanopatskaya, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko, temporarily unemployed Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and director of OOO S58 Technologies Sergei Cherechen will run for president.
