DOHA, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Qatar's Health Ministry on Tuesday announced 216 new COVID-19 infections, raising the total confirmed cases in the Gulf state to 111,538.
Meanwhile, 252 more patients recovered from the coronavirus, bringing the total recoveries to 108,254, while the death toll remained unchanged at 177, the ministry said in a statement quoted by the official Qatar News Agency.
The ministry attributed the increase in coronavirus infections to gatherings and visits, as well as people's ignoring the preventive measures such as staying at home and social distancing.
A total of 505,148 people in Qatar have taken lab tests for COVID-19 so far. Enditem
