QUITO, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador on Tuesday reported 922 new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection and 41 more deaths from the disease in the previous 24 hours.
The latest figures took the country's total caseload to 87,963 and the death toll to 5,808 since the start of the pandemic five months ago.
According to the Ministry of Health's daily pandemic report, some 59,344 patients have recovered from the disease.
Another 3,524 deaths are likely due to the virus, but lack of evidence prevents their being officially identified as COVID-19 fatalities, the ministry said. Enditem
