TOKYO, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Thursday as a comparatively firm yen dented sentiment, while concerns about domestic corporate profits also weighed after some underwhelming results.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 96.70 points, or 0.43 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 22,418.15.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 4.83 points, or 0.31 percent, to finish at 1,549.88.
Food, land transportation, and electric power and gas-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play. Enditem
