HANOI, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Le Kha Phieu, former general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), passed away on Friday, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Phieu, 88, passed away at 2:52 a.m. local time in the capital city of Hanoi after a long time of illness, the agency quoted Vietnam's Central Commission of Health Care for Senior Officials as saying on early Friday.
He was the General Secretary of the CPVCC from December 1997 to April 2001. Enditem
