Number of newly-built residential buildings, dwellings rises in Bulgaria in Q2

SOFIA, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- The number of newly-built residential buildings and dwellings in Bulgaria increased by 15.7 percent and 56.2 percent respectively year-on-year in the second quarter of 2020, official data showed on Friday.

According to preliminary data of the country's National Statistical Institute (NSI), in the second quarter of 2020, the number of newly built residential buildings was 766 and newly built dwellings in them numbered 3,660.

The number in Varna is the highest -- 105 residential buildings with 739 dwellings, followed by Sofia -- 103 residential buildings with 993 dwellings, and Burgas -- 96 buildings with 475 dwellings in them, the NSI said.

It also said that 37.5 percent of the newly-built dwellings were with two rooms, followed by those with three rooms at 35.5 percent.

Meanwhile, the average useful floor space of a newly-built dwelling decreased from 89.7 square meters in the second quarter of 2019 to 86.9 square meters in the same quarter of 2020, the statistics showed. Enditem
