BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Co. will recall 190,352 vehicles from the domestic market over safety concerns, according to the country's top quality watchdog.

The recall, set to begin on Aug. 15, involves Tiggo 5 SUVs manufactured between July 13, 2013, and Sept. 13, 2017, said a statement on the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation.

High-pressure water may get inside the electronic control unit (ECU) of the recalled vehicles during car washing. Damage to the control unit can cause the cars to stall or fail to start, posing safety hazards.

The auto company promised to install a water-resistant cover over the ECU, and replace faulty ECUs free of charge, according to the statement. Enditem
