Bulgarian hotels see nearly 90 pct drop in occupancy, revenue in June

SOFIA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian hotels and motels saw a year-on-year decline of almost 90 percent in occupancy and revenue in June as the epidemic situation continues, official figures showed on Monday.

The total number of nights spent in accommodation establishments in June was 495,100, 87.7 percent less than the same month of the previous year, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said.

The number of arrivals decreased by 80.6 percent year-on-year to 199,500, the NSI said, adding that drops of 94.5 percent and 59.5 percent were registered respectively for foreign guests and Bulgarian visitors.

Meanwhile, the total revenue from nights spent in June reached 23.1 million Bulgarian leva (some 14 million U.S. dollars), an 88.8 percent plunge year-on-year. Enditem
