DHAKA, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's per capita income reached over 2,000 U.S. dollars in the fiscal year 2019-20 (July 2019-June 2020), showed the official data released on Tuesday.
According to Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), per capita income in 2019-2020 fiscal year rose to 2,064 U.S. dollars. The figure stood at 1,909 dollars in the previous 2018-2019 fiscal year (July 2018-June 2019).
BBS said Bangladesh's GDP growth edged up to 5.24 percent in the last 2019-20 fiscal year.
Bangladesh GDP growth, which reached 8.15 percent in the previous fiscal year 2018-19, has suffered serious setback due to COVID-19 pandemic which still continued unabated in the country starting in March.
The number of confirmed infections in the country totaled 263,503 Tuesday while fatalities stood at 3,471. Enditem
