BUDAPEST, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- The decline of Hungary's automotive sector output slowed in June as most of the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted in the country, the data published Wednesday by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) showed.

The automotive sector, which accounted for more than 28 percent of Hungary's manufacturing output in June, shrank by 12.9 percent year-on-year, the KSH said.

The pullback in June is smaller than the 53-percent drop in May and an even deeper dive of 79.5 percent in April, when the country was under lockdown to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Several carmakers have plants in Hungary, such as Audi, Mercedes and Opel of Germany, BYD of China and Suzuki of Japan. BMW of Germany has also announced the construction of a new plant. Enditem
