Malaysia reports 13 new COVID-19 cases, two new clusters detected

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 26 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the national total to 9,175, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that three cases are imported and 23 are local transmissions.

Health authorities reported another new case cluster in Kedah state traced through active screening, with four members of the same family testing positive for the disease.

Another three cases have been released, bringing the total cured and discharged to 8,831 or 96.3 percent of all cases.

No new deaths have been reported, leaving the total deaths at 125.

Of the remaining 219 active cases, six are being held in intensive care and one of those is in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
